Volunteer Program

MRI Participant Liason Volunteer Program:

We are seeking compassionate and detail-oriented volunteers to support our MRI team by assisting with participant screening and support prior to MRI scans. Volunteers with the MRI Participant Liason Program will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth, safe, and comfortable experience for participants undergoing research imaging. In addition, those in the volunteer program will have the unique opportunity to shadow MRI scans and gain exposure to various neuroimaging practices.***

***Note that this program includes valuable participant interactions and does NOT include any technical research experience such as data analysis or paper writing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct screenings for MRI safety
  • Assist with preparing participants for their MRI appointment
  • Escort and guide participants between waiting areas and the console room
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to anxious participants
  • Observe MRI scans under the supervision of technologists 
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and confidential environment

Qualifications:

  • Background in neuroscience, pre-health, or other psychological sciences
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional presentation
  • Comfortable working with diverse participant populations
  • Available at least 2 days a week 4 hours per day or 1 weekend day for at least 6 hours
  • Arrives punctually and well-prepared to volunteering shifts
