Getting to the Basic Science Building — Public Transportation
The most efficient way to get to the lab may be a combination of Metrobus/Rail & the free Georgetown University Shuttle. Review the information below and plan accordingly.
Metro Access
The Washington, D.C. Metro system is accessible and easy to navigate. Two central metro stations connect directly to Georgetown via the free university-operated shuttles.
- The D94 Gallery Place-Sibley Hospital bus route stops directly in front of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
- The Dupont (Red line) and Rosslyn (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines) metro stations are serviced by Georgetown University Shuttles.
- Dupont Metro Station: Massachusetts Avenue and 20th Street
- Rosslyn Metro Station: 19th Street and Moore Street
- For the most direct route, call METRO at 202-637-7000 or use their online Trip Planner.
Free Shuttle – Georgetown University Transportation System (GUTS)
MedStar Georgetown and Georgetown University provide free shuttle service for patients, visitors and families to and from Dupont Circle Metro and Rosslyn Metro stations.
For the shuttle schedule, call 202-444-RIDE (7433) for pre-recorded information or visit the GUTS website and select a shuttle route to see the schedule.
All shuttle buses enter the University campus via Canal Road and pick up and drop off passengers in one of two locations: McDonough Circle and Lombardi Circle. Each bus is labeled with its drop-off point. We recommend taking a Lombardi Circle bus for the shortest walk.
From Lombardi Circle:
When you get off the shuttle, walk up the hill, and turn left after you cross the crosswalk. You can take stairs or the ramp down to a pavilion, and contact your coordinator to let them know you have arrived.
Hospital employees must show an ID badge when boarding. Patients, or family of a patient, will need to inform the driver that they are coming to the hospital for a medical reason and may be asked to write down their name upon boarding.
Please make sure you have a valid ID with you when you board any shuttle bus. Please note that presenting an ID will be required by all shuttle services (GUTS, Abe’s, or International Limo).
At times there may be construction occurring on the Hospital campus or the University campus which may cause minor delays to the shuttle bus schedule and/or changes to pedestrian routes to the Hospital. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we make changes to meet the needs of our community.
