Volunteer Safety Training
Training Schedule and Expectations
If you are accepted into the program you will complete our Volunteer Safety Training which includes Part 1 and Part 2 of User Safety training and a special half-day of observed screening in ‘Screener Bootcamp’. You will also need to complete a HIPAA training through Citi for working with human research participants.
Part 1 Volunteer Safety Training
The goal of the course is to certify participants as eligible to subsequently conduct research using the MR scanner at the GUMC Center for Functional and Molecular Imaging (CFMI).
This is an interactive course, so please ensure that you have both video and audio working. Please reserve time for the course until ~1:00PM. Attendance will be taken at 9:00AM! If you are not present when attendance is taken, you will be considered absent and will need to sign up for the next available session.

Part 2 Volunteer Safety Training
The tour should take about 45 minutes, and will involve showing you around CFMI as well as completing the environmental screener.
Before arriving, please be sure to read through our Community Standards, which outlines our expectations for you as a member of the CFMI community. This document contains important information about booking, participant management, and safety, so if any questions arise we encourage you to ask them during the safety tour! For the volunteering program you can focus on the safety aspects but understanding how participants are managed will help you in the long run in the MRI Participant Liason position.
When you get here, go ahead and ring the doorbell to the left of the door, and one of us will be there to let you in and begin the tour.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to cfmi-scanning-team@georgetown.edu, and Sarah, Stephanie or Holly will get back to you. We greatly look forward to meeting you!
