Sergey Borisov, Ph.D.

Position:

Post Doctoral Fellow

School:

M.S. – Nizhny Novgorod State University, 1998, Biology;
Ph.D. – Moscow State University, 2002, Human Physiology; Psychophysiology.

Bio:

Dr. Borisov’s research interests focus on neuronal activity of the human brain reflecting on changes in characteristics of electroencephalogram (EEG) and Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy signal (NIRS) and related to cognitive load, specific pharmacological agents and pathology (schizophrenia spectrum disorders). His interests also include theoretical and experimental aspects of electroencephalography, as well as, the application of advanced signal processing techniques (such as ICA and DSS) to EEG/MEG analysis and the development of new methods of EEG data processing (segmental analysis, analysis of structural synchrony).
The current project Dr. Borisov is working on is devoted to the study of the mechanisms of fast visual target recognition in human. The main project’s goal is creating a system which will identify the brain activity patterns related to targets and distinguish them from ‘non-target’ patterns in a real-time mode. Within the project, both EEG and NIRS techniques are used for simultaneous recording of the brain activity followed by the procedure of signal pattern classification, as well as, the analysis with standard and advanced original methods.
